Round 6: Spa

Round 5: Mid-Ohio

Round 4: Suzuka

Round 3: Road America

Round 2: Mosport

It was an exciting race day as teams ventured to the hills of Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for round 2 of the J2I Endurance Championship! A hot day would lead to some interesting conditions as track temperatures soared towards 120F/49C! Even with a not-so-ideal track, drivers were able to still put together some very serious lap times during Qualifying. Dan would once again take pole position in LMP2 with the next 7 drivers within a second of his time of 1:06.158. Sean Dickinson would lead the GT3 pack in his Mercedes AMG with a time of 1:13.806, but not without some other contenders breathing down his neck.

As the race commenced, many drivers, especially in the GT3 field, were immediately struggling for lack of grip on the hot track, with many drivers simply losing the rear as the race progressed with the main culprits being T1 and T5. The LMP field held it together well, as the name of the game for them was patience. Tiptoeing their way through the GT3 field while trying to stay close to their rivals. As much as we all expected some inter-class incidents on this tight course, there would end up being more incidents between drivers of the same class throughout the race. LMP race leaders Dan and TonLo would come together midway through the race for a hard crash into the tire barrier outside of turn 1. Miraculously both drivers were able to get away from the crash well enough to continue their race! Extra Crispy and Book would collide early in the race as well in the GT3 field, Book being sent in the air along the tire wall on the exit of turn one, but somehow Extra Crispy didn’t suffer particularly major damage. T1 would continue to see cranage as drivers touched the grass and lots rear-end grip throughout the entirety of the race. Overall we’d see 9 cars across both classes DNF from the race for various reasons.

Despite all this, TonLo would come across the line to claim his first race win of the Endurance Season, with Lieutenant Dan following in second, and Fuzzytacos in third. Extra Crispy would continue his win streak, bringing his GT3 across the line in first for his second league win, with Sean Dickinson and Allen Wrench rounding out the top 3.

The battle for the LMP2 class remains tight, with Lieutenant Dan and TonLo tied at 69 points a piece, nice, and Fuzzytacos holding onto that third position. In GT3 Extra Crispy continues to stretch his lead, now holding 71 points, while Sean Dickinson and Allen Wrench continue to hold second and third respectively.

It was a good day for Simply Speed Motorsport as they now climb to the top of the LMP2 Team standings, with ARC Send It! holding second and BDS Racing jumping into the third team position. Sim City Racing is starting to take a commanding lead as they continue to gap Upfront Motorsports who sits in second place overall, and IIAnticipo Motorsports now claims the third spot in the GT3 team standings. While points battles start to develop, there are still 10 races left in the calendar so there is plenty that can change in that time. For now, we’ll see you at Road America!

Round 1: Motegi

It’s that time of the year again! The J2I Endurance Series is officially underway! Teams came from all over the world for round one of this epic series to none other than Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi. The start of this season received a massive turnout with 14 LMP2 and 26 GT3 drivers participating, and with that a nicely diverse field of GT3’s with almost every manufacturer present.

Both fields drove very clean but tight opening laps, but soon after the lack of racing over the last months would show with many drivers across both fields taking the scenic route here and there. More chaos would come as the LMP2 drivers hit the first waves of traffic. With both classes still racing tight after the opening laps, getting through traffic wasn’t going to be easy. Erco, G Bae, and Sector would be the first of a few more incidents between the two classes, as the three were involved in an incident forcing Erco to tow. Some clean race-long midfield battles would pop up throughout though, such as SimplySteve and Squilliam in LMP2 battling for 4th, and Captain and Joshua Spears in a tight battle for the 8th spot in GT3.

We were gifted lots of exciting three and even four wide action as the race inched to it’s conclusion. Tonlo and Lieutenant Dan would battle closely for the majority of the race for P1 in LMP2, with Dan ultimately being victorious but still followed closely by Tonlo and Fuzzytacos for second and third respectively. Martin Crisp would bring home first place in the GT3 field with Sean following in second and Allen Wrench rounding out the podium in Third.

BDS Racing with Tonlo and Ace22 will leave Motegi leading in the team standings for the LMP2 field, with Squilliam and Rocky leading Forever A Thonk to Second in the points and Simply Speed Motorsport captained by SimplySteve and Joe-Nothing taking third. In GT3 Sim City Racing driven by Martin Crisp and Allen Wrench will sit at the top of the tables for the team standings, followed by Sean Dickinson and Joshua Spears of Upfront Motorsports in second, and Sector and Brando of HMO Racing taking third.

We see some big grids and tight racing in the future for the Endurance Series as we leave the great country of Japan, but now lets get ready for some crazy action in the Canadian Hills!
